Abstract
199,195. Johnson, J. April 18, 1922. Pocket-knives. - A knife blade is detachably held between the resilient arms 4, Fig. 2. of a U-shaped mem. ber 3 upon which is slidably mounted a sheath 1, Fig. 1, for causing the arms to grip or release the blade. The ends 7 of the arms have V-grooves 8, Fig. 3, to engage the bevelled edges of the shank 6 of the blade and holes 10 to receive pivot projections 9 on the shank. The sheath 1 abuts against shoulders 11 on the arms 4 and is retained bv a spring catch 12, Fig. 7, adapted to engage a notch 15 in the member 3. To release the sheath, the catch 12 is turned on its pivot 13 into alignment with a notch 17, Fig. 2, in the member 3. When not in use, the blade may be turned on its pivots 9 to lie within the sheath.
