Abstract

199,005. Soc. Anon. Nieuport-Astra. June 10, 1922, [Convention date]. Aeroplanes; fuselages; planes, connecting to machine.-An aeroplane comprises a forward unit carrying the motor, pilot's cockpit, lifting- planes and landing chassis, and provided with a braced framework to which any desired body can be removably attached. Fig. 1 shows a forward unit connected to either of the alternative forms of body shown by means of bars 9, 10 secured on each side of the body and detachably connected to the forward unit at 11, 12. Transverse bars brace together the connections on the two sides of the machine. Fig. 5 shows the bracing of a forward unit modified to enable a direct connection to be made with the ends 11, 12 of the longerons of the body, which are braced together at these points by transverse bars.
