Abstract

198,758. Bendall, R. L. March 6, 1922. Block paving; foundations. - Roads, tramway-tracks, paths, &c., or foundations therefor, are constructed of concrete slabs 1, Figs. 1 and 6, having holes cast therein and provided with tubular reinforcements 12 for the reception of dowels or bars 5 extending through the slabs and into or through adjacent similar slabs in order to lock the slabs together. The bars may extend longitudinally of the slabs, or longitudinally and transversely, or longitudinally and diagonally. The sides of the slabs may be curved or serrated, Fig. 8, in which case the slabs alreadv laid or cast form a mould for the intermediate slab 1<d>.
