Abstract

198,475. Leak, A. H., and Mobbs, H. March 16, 1922. Steering-gear.-The rotary movement of a steering-wheel is transmitted to the road wheels by means of a floating lever capable of simultaneous rotary and longitudinal movement. The steering-column 1 carries a crank 4 secured at 6 to the lever 5 which is attached at 12 to the connecting-red 13. The lever 5 is mounted so as to slide in trunnions 8 provided with pivots 9. The motion of the pin 12 is practically a straightline motion when the pivots 9 are placed in close proximity to the lowest part of the path of the pin 6.
