Abstract
197,660. Cartier, H. May 9, 1922, [Convention date]. Automatic circuit-breakers comprise contact blades 1 pivotally supported at 4 by links 5 pivoted at 6 to links 7 pivoted at 8 to the frame. The switch is held closed by the contact of a member 10 pivoted at 6, with a member 12 pivoted at 12' to an arm 13 fixed to a hand lever 14. The switch is automatically tripped at over- or under-load by one of two cores 20 striking a finger 18 connected to a cam 17 which thereupon rotates, lifts the member 10 and allows a spring 16, together with the weight of the apparatus to bring the parts to the open position (shown dotted). The switch is reset by rotating the handle 14 to the left till the member 12 engages the end of the member 10, and then rotating the handle back bringing the member 10 with it. Engagement of the members 10, 12 during resetting is, however, rendered impossible by the position of the cam 17 should the overload or underload persist.
