Abstract

197,218. Beckwith, J. T. June 1, 1922. Washing-machines with closed or enclosed rotary receptacles.-A shaft 11 is driven in opposite directions alternately from a continuously driven shaft 12. The shaft 12 carries a pinion 27 engaging alternately with the inside and outside of a substantially complete ring of pins 32 on a wheel 29 mounted on a stub shaft 30, Figs. 1 and 4, the wheel 30 meshing with a spur wheel 28 on the shaft 11. The shaft 12 is movable in a vertical plane, to allow for the movement of the pinion 27, being mounted at one end in a bearing 15 rotatable about horizontal pivots 16 carried by a bracket 17, and at the other end supported in a block 18, Fig. 7, mounted in a curved slideway 19, spring controlled buffers 23 being provided at each end of the slideway.
