Abstract

194,947. Fahrni, J. March 31, 1922. Lawn-mowers.-The knife-bar 6 is reciprocated by a lever 14 pivoted on the main frame 16 and provided with a slot in which engages a pin situated at the mid-point of the knife-bar. The lever 14 is operated by a second lever pivoted on a vertical bracket on the frame and having a slot in which a crank pin moves, the crank pin being carried by a shaft driven through a clutch and chain-and-sprocket gear 8 from an internal combustion motor 3. Steering handles 2 are rigidly connected to the frame 16 so that the cutters may be raised by depressing the handle 2. Controls 4, 5, and 21 for the carburettor, the clutch for the road wheels, and the clutch for the cutters respectively are arranged on the handles. A plate 22 at the middle of the knife-bar separates the grass into two swaths.
