Abstract

Brackets.- In a sheetmetal bracket comprising a metal strip bent at a rightangle and a stay connecting the arms of the strip, the metal strip A is formed with a fluting a and the stay B is formed from a metal tube, preferably flattened, to form front and rear folds b, Fig. 2, or pressed to rectangular form. The tube may be seamless or be formed with butted edges at one side or at the rear. Each end of the stay is formed with a pair of tongues c, c and shoulders d, d. The stay is secured preferably by passing the tongues through holes in the fluting a, and either bending them as shown in Fig. 5 or splaying them with a chisel. The stay may, however, be riveted.
