193,931. Vickers, Ltd., Variable Sp eed Gear, Ltd., Ingoldby, M. K., and Henderson, Sir B. Nov. 25, 1921. Hydraulic transmission apparatus.- Relates to locomotives of the kind having an internal-combustion engine B directly coupled to one or more pump units C, and one or more motor units D connected to the driving wheels without the use of gear wheels and so that the motor units and the driving wheels rotate at the same speed. The motor unit is of the parallel cylinder type having a valve plate against which the cylinder barrel rotates, and the shaft d extends through the valve plate, each end of this shaft being provided with a crank D<1> connected to the driving wheels by a coupling-rod D<2>. In a modification the shaft d forms the axle of a pair of driving wheels, this axle being coupled to another by coupling-rods.
