Nov. 14, 1921 Dials and scales: index hand and pointers in dicating departure from efficiency relations between quantities measured.-Relates to means for indicating simultaneously two quantities, the read. ings from instruments, and the relationship between them as compared with a known or expected relationship. A pointer b, Fig. 1, showing kilowatts, for example, against a scale h, moves over a dial a on which a second pointer c records steam consumption against a scale g. The dial a carries a marking d corresponding to a predetermin relationship between the readings, and alsc markings e, f, showing 10 per cent variation therefrom. The pointers may be of translucent material so that, the dial being illuminated from behind, the intersection of the pointers is readily visible. In a modified form a wattmeter may have a light drum j, Fig. 5, with indications on the lower edge k to read against a fixed pointer r Fig. 6, in a slotted dial l, and may carry a spiral relationship marking n with variation markings against which will read a steam consumption pointer carded by a rod s as seen through a ver. tical slot q in the dial l graduated for steam con. sumption.
