Abstract

Doors.-Relates to locking-means for the door of a sterilizing or other chamber, of the kind in which a number of radial bolts are pivoted to a central disk which is rotated to a certain extent to project and withdraw the bolts and is moved longitudinally of its axis to press the door against its seat. The central disk engages with a screw-threaded spindle having a bearing in the door, so that the rotation of the spindle performs the double operation of rotating the disk and moving it longitudinally. The bolts h have ball-shaped heads placed in a circular groove between two plates forming the central disk i, and held in position by distancepins n. The bolts pass through apertures in a flange l on the inside of the door. When the door is closed, the bolts press against the inner edge of the ring k secured to the top of the chamber to form the door seating. When the hand-wheel r on the spindle p is rotated to release the door, the disk is moved inwards and is slightly rotated so as to withdraw the bolts. The rotation is limited by a pin s engaging in a slot on the disk.
