Coupling.-Relates to cord, wire, and like grips, particularly applicable to electric-light fittings, and of the type comprising two or more independent gripping-pieces which separate or insulate the cords &c. and are clamped together by a surrounding ferrule. According to the invention, the independent gripping-pieces are replaced by a single member consisting of three or more partitions connected together. Fig. 1 shows a conical plug A having two slots B, B' terminating in larger passages I, I' for the cords &c. The plug need not be formed of the same material throughout; for example, the gripping-surfaces may be lined with rubber, and the remainder made of harder and cheaper mate. rial. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the deformable plug G is surrounded by a member H of wood, fibre, or other material, preferably harder and cheaper then the material of the plug. The member H may be slotted or may be. made in two or more portions, and co-operates with the ferrule to deform the plug. Relative axial movement of the plug and the member H is preferably prevented by an interlocking-device, such as a flange G<1> on the plug and a corresponding recess in the member H.
