Abstract

1236. Roberts, D. Jan. 16. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In engines of the kind in which a vaporizer is connected to the cylinder by a contracted passage as described in Specifications 22,433/11 and 6809/12, two fuelinjection valves are provided, one g to inject a charge axially, and the other i to inject a charge transversely. The transverse jet may be used to start ignition and may be injected in advance of the other. The injection may be effected by two separate pumps or valves, or one pump with a deflecting-valve ; or the pump may be arranged with duplicate ports and passages, so that one plunger may be used for both injections.
