Guards for preventing access of insects, vermin, and the like.-A guard for accelerating the development of plants and for protecting them from slugs, violent winds, &c., consists of a cylindrical, square, or other vessel divided vertically into halves which are placed round the plant and then fastened together. A semicircular incision is made in the bottom B of each half. Some of the walls A are extended to' enter the ground. The top of the guard is formed with a flange C, which is provided with hooks and eyes to fasten the parts together.
