Abstract
23,715. Paget, R. A. S. Oct. 20. Resistances.- A support a of silica or the like, helically grooved for the reception of a heating - resistance, is made by twisting a strip within an electric or gas furnace, or by simultaneously flattening and twisting a cylindrical or other mass. A coiled wire b of nickel - chromium alloy or other material, or a plain wire or strip, is wound along one helical groove, through a notch in the end of the support, and back along the other groove; if coiled, it may be secured by an insulated wire. The support may be attached to a cap d like that of an incandescent lamp. Dimensions of a 360-watt resistance for a 240-volt circuit are stated.
