11,525. Armstrong, Whitworth, & Co., Sir W. G., and Lloyd, E. W. May 17, Switches.-Consists in a special delay-action contact-maker or firing-device for torpedo tubes. The key a is adapted to slide through a toothed setting-wheel b against the action of a spring h. On the depression of the key, (1) a contact i on the spring h is depressed to the level of a similar contact j carried by a spring-arm k, and (2) a collar c disengages a spring-controlled bell-crank d from the wheel b, which is then caused to rotate by its spring g, its motion being, however, retarded by an escapement c. After an interval depending upon the initial twist imparted to the wheel b by operating an arm f rigidly attached thereto, the arm f engages the spring arm k and presses the contact j against the contact i, thus completing the firing circuit.
