Armour.-In armour having a fabric covering composed of layers of fabric crossing at rightangles and secured together, the fabric consists of cloth, cotton, &c. treated with a mixture of strong glue, colophony, tar, and borax or other substance rich in oxygen. The strips of fabric alternate with the layers of the adhesive mixture. Impregnation of the fabric is effected by boiling in a bath of the substances mentioned above. The covering may completely enclose the armour, forming a bag.
