3923. Hoffmann-La Roche & Co., F. April 26, 1911, [Convention date]. m-Cresol; m-cresolsulphonic acid. - In a process for the production of pure m-cresol, the product obtained as described in Specification 25,166/11 by sulphonating a mixture of m- and p-cresols with the quantity of sulphuric acid requisite for the production nf the monosulphonic acids of both cresols, or with less acid, and splitting up the m-cresolsulphonic acid which crystallizes out, is subjected to a repetition of the process. Commercial m-cresol may also he similarly treated.
