7633. Liebrecht, A. March 27. p-Chlor-m-cresol is obtained by chlorinating pure m-cresol or the crude mixture of m- and p-crescls, and after separation of any crystallized product, sulphonating the mixture of chlorcresols, and eliminating the sulphonic group from the separated p-chlor-m-cresolsulphonic acid cr its salts, in known manner. The sulphonic group may be split off, for example, by heating with acids.
