Nitric acid. - In the oxidation of nitrogen oxides by means of oxygen in the presence of water or aqueous solutions to produce nitric acid, the absorption liquid is conveyed in the absorption system by apparatus worked by compressed oxygen, which on leaving the apparatus is re-introduced into the absorption system together with the oxides of nitrogen or nitric acid vapours entrained by it.
