Abstract

8786. Teale, J., and Teale, E. April 8. Sashes folding on vertical joint.-Relates to windows 'comprising two sashes hinged together and having guidepins on their free sides sliding in channels in the frame. According to the present invention, the sashes A are provided with upright rods C, which engage grooves I in the frame when the sashes are closed, the ends of the rods forming guide-pins sliding in the channels E. The sashes are held in any open position by a bar P, mounted to slide horizontally on pins Q and to jam the ends of the rods C in the lower guide-channel E by means of a thumb-screw R engaging a spring plate P' carried by the bar P. The sashes are locked, when closed, by the engagement of a pivoted catch O with a notched plate M which projects through a slot N in the window frame, and are prevented from folding flat against each other by a stop-bar J sliding in the upper guidechannel E. Drainage-holes S, leading from the lower channel E to the outside, may be formed in the sill.
