Abstract

12,841. Bates, A., and British United Shoe Machinery Co. July 24, 1909. Press knives.-In machines for the manufacture of boots &c., in which interchangeable knives or the like are used, the knife is held by a clamping-plate against swivelling abutments, so that knives of varying curvature may be used. Fig. 1 shows the application to the heelbreasting machine described in Specification 17,260/09, [Class 17 (i) Boots &c., Apparatus for making &c.]. The knife E is held by a clamping- plate D<4> against the swivelling abutments D<7>. Screws D<s> take the thrust of the knife, and provide fine adjustment for it. A flexible knife may be used, and may be curved to any desired shape by means of suitable clamping-plates.
