Abstract

12,020. Langford, E. W. May 14. Keys.-A templet-gauge, for use in cutting keys &c., comprises a holder f, g for the key i, and a series of adjustable gauging-fingers or feelers a contained in a casing b. These feelers are moved into contact with the key, and a pattern is thereby obtained. In order to obtain a pattern of the end of the key, the key is fixed to the bar e by the holder g, as shown in Fig. 4. The lower ends a<1> of the feelers may be provided with a roughened surface and act as a cutting- tool. A modified form of holder is shown in Fig. 5, in which the key can be moved parallel to itself away from the templet, so as to allow a file l to be used. The feelers may also have spring ends to facilitate engagement with irregular surfaces.
