Abstract

Magnetic separators. -In a wet magnetic separating - process, liquid walls or columns are formed between the surface of the flowing liquid and the conveyer, so that the magnetic particles may be attracted to the surface of the conveyer without having to overcome the surface tension of the liquid. The conveyer b is formed of magnetic material, and has a tapered lower edge which is arranged near enough to the surface of the liquid e to obtain the liquid column a by adhesion; a stationary magnet c is situated below the liquid. The formation of the column may be assisted by supplying liquid from above, either through openings g in the conveyer or by spray pipes. If the conveyer is of non-magnetic material, additional magnets are placed above it.
