Abstract

104,183. Rasmussen & Ernst Ges. Feb. 16, 1916, [Convention date]. Liquid and gases, separating.-A separation is effected between liquid rich in air and liquid poor in air by causing the lighter liquid containing much air to rise higher than the liquid poor in air owing to their different velocities. Liquid containing air enters a chamber a by a nozzle d, the heavier liquid escaping by a pipe k, while the lighter rises so that a " neutral zone" is formed which facilitates the separation of air. At the top of the chamber a there may be arranged a number of " cells" e. The separated air, with any liquid particles associated with it, passes through a narrow opening l into a chamber m, from which the air escapes at o and the liquid at n. One or more additional chambers may be arranged similar to a, as shown in Fig. 2, in which case the lighter liquid and air from the chamber a pass by a nozzle f into the second chamber b furnished with cells g. The air escapes as before, and the liquid is returned by a pipe h to the chamber a through a nozzle i. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1437/80, 17158/87, 20468/00, 6011/06, [Class 46, Filtering &c.], and 18165/14.
