Abstract
22,765. Niven, T., Clark, W., and Bell, J. G. Oct. 15. Steam-generator furnaces; fire-bars. - In corrugated boiler furnaces, the grates are fitted at the sides with fire-bars which are free to respond to the expansion or contraction of the furnace. In one form, a plain bar a, shown in plan in Fig. 1 and in section in Fig. 3, is carried by the front and back bearers, and is formed with a channel for receiving tongues f on the sections b. The sections are provided with lips and are arranged so that, when assembled together, there is a slight space between adjacent sections. To prevent the sections from being raised from the bar or displaced during clinkering, the tongues and channel may be dovetailed. In a modification, the sections b may be provided with lips j, Fig. 6, to fit over the bar a, and with a central lip k to engage an enlargement m on the side of the bar.
