Abstract
190,266. Engler, R. Sept. 26, 1921. Shuttleless looms.-A weft-inserting device for looms with stationary pirns for producing wire tissue comprises wire-holders 1, 2, with rollers which run on a rail 3 on the lay, and linkages 14, which move the holders towards and from the middle of the shed. The end members 15, 16 of each linkage are pivoted at 17 and carry pulleys 18, 19 engaging a slot 20 in a slide 21, which is displaced against the action of a spring 26 by a string 22 attached to a cam-operated lever 24. A weft wire '4 drawn from a pirn 30 is gripped by a lever 6 pivoted in the holder 2 and is carried to the middle of the shed, where the end projecting from the holder 2 penetrates the holder 1. A lever 5 pivoted in the holder 1 and the lever 6 are oscillated by contact with stops 31, 32, causing the wire to be gripped in the holder 1 and released from the holder 2. The wire is then pulled through the shed, whereupon the levers contact with stops 34 causing the holder 1 to release the wire and the holder 2 to grip the wire, which is cut at a point just passed by the holder 2 on its return movement. The levers 5. 6 are secured in their end positions of oscillation by means of studs 9, 10 thereon engaging curved springs 7, 8.
