Abstract
2194. Wilson, W. Jan. 31. Stoppers ; refilling, preventing. - One or more perforated screens C, each furnished with an inwardly-directed tube D, are fitted in the neck of the bottle &c., preferably resting on shoulders B. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the mouth is closed by an ordinary cork or stopper; in Fig. 2, the stopper I is shown fixed to a rod H, which passes through the permanently-attached cap E, the neck being formed with an outlet F for the liquid. When the stopper is withdrawn, as in Fig. 1, or raised from its seat, as in Fig. 2, the contents can be poured out through the screen C, the air entering through the tube D. The outlet F may be protected by a perforated screen, and, instead of it serving also as an air inlet, the inlet may be formed on the opposite side of the neck. As an additional precaution, a loose valve G of parchment or fine silk may be placed over the tube D, so that, on an attempt at refilling, it becomes wetted, and closes the tube.
