Abstract

188,974. Hensley, C. G. Nov. 30, 1921. Sound magnifying and directing appliances.-A sound concentrator or amplifier for use in place of a horn in gramophone recorders or reproducers, or in telephone transmitters or receivers, comprises a conical casing 3 containing a conical cone 17 and provided with a large diaphragm 25 at one end and a smaller diaphragm 1 at the other end, which is arranged like the usual diaphragms, for example, in conjunction with a stylus bar 8 pivoted at 10 on a bearing-plate 11. The casing 3 and the core 17 are preferably made of wood, and the core is spaced from the casing and secured thereto by washers 18 and screws 19, whereby an annular air cone 23 is formed communicating at the ends with air spaces 20, 22 against the diaphragms 25, 1 respectively.
