Abstract

Double and multiple fabrics; double and single fabrics combined; fabrics with tubular portions; cutting out, weaving to facilitate.-A multiple-ply woven fabric for cuffs is adapted to facilitate the binding of the cuff edges. The fabric shown in Fig. 4 is three-ply with warp and weft threads 7, 8 respectively and interweaving threads 6, and is woven with a single-ply extension 4 and a two-ply extension 3 in which the threads 6 are incorporated. These extensions are turned in to form a binding, or for attachment to the shirt sleeve 2, and the surface of the extension 3 has the same appearance as the body of the cuff owing to the threads 6. The fabric may be woven to form a series of cuff-blanks united by the extensions 3, 4, and may have weakened fold portions for double cuffs. In a modification, the fabric is four-ply, and each extension is two-ply with interweaving threads.
