Lenses; lens-holders.- Advertising matter is displayed on a sheet of material 4 placed between the glass 1 of a lantern &c. and another glass &c. 2 secured in front of it. A screwed cap or ring may be used to retain the parts 2, 4, or one or both of the glass or other plates 1, 2 may be hinged. The plate 1 may be placed at some distance from the advertising plate 4, or an additional plate 7 mav be fitted; this arrangement in conjunction with an opening 8 helps to keep cool the part remote from the illuminant. To obtain a picture larger than the lantern front, the plates 1, 2 and 4 may be mounted in a case which forms an extension of the lantern front. For vehicle lamps, a subdued light may be obtained by fitting a half-transparent plate between two glass plates.
