Abstract

186,022. Shenton, R. April 12, 1921. Firebars and grates.-A furnace grate consists of three rocking-bars A of semicircular cross-section interposed between fixed wing bars B<1> and wedge-shaped bars B. The rocking-bars are ribbed transversely over their length except for a plain stiffening portion A<1> at the middle, and the ribs fit in between teeth in the fixed bars. Each rocking-bar has a long spindle at the door end of the furnace, supported in bearings beneath the dead-plate, and having a squared end for engagement with a key, which is inserted through an opening in the front normally closed by a cover-plate.
