Abstract
182,394. Gibson, W., and Pocock, E. J. Dec. 6, 1921. Fire-bars.-Bars of the type having pockets for the reception of refractory material cast integral with the web are constructed with the pockets a of rhombeid shape, to prevent damage by the clinkering tool, the air-spaces b between the pockets being inclined to the axis of the bar, as shown in Fig. 1. The bars are spaced apart by the lugs e to form longitudinal air-spaces c. Fig. 3 shows a section through a pocket, the inner edge of the wall of the pockets being rounded. When the fire-bars are applied to a mechanical stoker, the sharp edges of the pockets reduce clinkering.
