Abstract

Tappet gears; slide-valves, flat.- The slide valve 24 of a jig-conveyer motor is arranged at the end of the cylinder, and is operated by tappets 12, 13, 18 arranged on the rods 7 connected by a cross-head to the piston-rod 1. The tappets 12, 13 are adjustable. The tappets 18, 12, 13 move the valve 24 to the positions shown in Figs. 6, 5, and 4 respectively. Full-pressure fluid is first supplied to the left of the piston and the right put to exhaust; the left of the piston is then cut off from the supply and put to throttled exhaust, during which time expansion occurs and the exhaust on the right of the piston is closed; finally, the left of the piston is put to full exhaust and the right to throttled fluid supply before the piston completes its stroke to the right. Admission takes place on the left of the piston before the stroke to the left is complete. A three-way cock 34 in the forward passage 22 enables the motor to be converted into a single-acting one.
