Abstract

May 9. 1921 Wrenches with chuck-like grip. - A socket wrench comprises a casing 1 internally threaded for an adjusting member 6 and formed at the end with an annular series of recesses 4 bevelled to form cam faces, with which engage a series of jaw members 10 having surfaces fitting in the recesses 4. The outer ends of these members 10 form an adjustable socket for the nut &c., and their inner ends are formed with lugs 12 engaging the annular shoulder 9 on the end of the screw 6. A star spring 14, Figs. 2 and 7, connected to the end of the member 6 by a screw 13, tends to force the outer ends of the jaw apart, the adjustment being effected by rotating the member 6.
