Abstract

Loose cotton and cotton yarns or fabrics &c. are bleached by first treating the goods with a soda lye containing soluble hydrosulphites, preferably in a vacuum at temperatures below 100 DEG C., and then bleaching by means of other bleaching-agents, such as hypochlorites, hydrogen peroxide, perborates, percarbonates, persulphates, &c. Sodium or ammonium hydrosulphites may be used, and the goods may be soured and washed during the bleaching process. Specifications 1586/82, 7550/87, 1623/93, 18297/10, and 12283/11 are referred to.
