Abstract

182,620. Wade, E. E. S. May 4, 1921. Reservoir pens; pencil and like holders.- Relates to means for securing a head-piece, which may be revoluble, to the vulcanite or like body or barrel of a reservoir pen, pencil, or the like. The head-piece g is formed with a reduced portion g<1> having a projection or flange g<2>, which is larger than the normal diameter of the barrel a, and is adapted to occupy a groove a<1> in the barrel, the engagement being effected by heating the barrel so as to expand it and permit the insertion of the flange. The barrel is preferably formed with a chamfered mouth a<2> to facilitate the insertion. As applied to a self-filling pen of the plunger type, the head-piece operates a plunger d by means of a screw f which engages a threaded tubular member e attached to the plunger. The flange g<2> and groove a<1> are so spaced as to cause the shoulder g<3> of the head-piece to abut against the end of the barrel.
