Cultivators and har - rows with adjustable frames; draught de - vices.-A tractor-drawn frame for harrows and like implements has a whipple-tree comprising a bar d made in three parts so connected that, though the whole bar is rigid while in use, the outer parts thereof may be turned up on bolts e when it is desired to pass through a gate. The outer members are connected to an adjustable shackle g on a bracket g<1> or a drawbar a by tension rods f. The draw-bar a is connected to an adjusting bracket c at the front end of the main frame and is pivoted at its rear end to a bracket j on the main frame. The middle part of the bar d is connected to the bracket j by inclined chains h which prevent lateral swinging of the whippletree. The main frame extends laterally from its front end to two parallel longitudinal side bars b<1> connected by transverse bars r. A central longitudinal bar may also be provided on wide frames. The bars b<1> carry bearings in which is mounted a cranked axle l carrying land wheels k. The axle is rocked to raise the frame bv a clutch and gearing n driven from one or both of the wheels k. The implements are lowered against the tension of a spring p by releasing a catch. The transverse bars r of the main frame are provided with outer portions r' which are pivoted thereto so that they can be raised to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2 to pass through gates or extended as shown in full lines, being secured in the extended position by slotted brackets s. The outer ends of the portions r<1> may be bent down as shown in Fig. 2 for cultivating under trees. The harrows or similar implements are attached at their front ends to the bar d by chains w and clips v, and at the forward end of the machine are slung from the transverse bars r, r<1> of the frame by chains w<1> secured to hooks r<2> which may be adjusted along the bars. At the rear of the machine they are similarly adjustably slung from the bars r, r<1> by chains x, y. The central harrow is extended and carries two tines z<1> to operate in the wheel tracks. Stiff distance-rods y<1> maintain the harrows in correct relative position at their rear ends. Longitudinal bars may be used to prevent the harrows from touching the wheels of the machine. In one Provisional Specification it is stated that the harrow may carry a transverse bar having vertically adjustable tines to operate in the wheel tracks of the tractor; in a modification, the rear transverse bar is supported by skids and the harrow is carried by spring links.
