Abstract

Chair keys.-Tapered keys driven between the flange of a flat-bottomed rail and a lug or jaw on the chair or sleeper are adapted for right and left hand use. The curved back A of the key contacts with the chair jaw and the faces BR, CR contact with the rail flange and chair seat or vice versa according as the key is used as a right-hand or left-hand key. The keys on one rail may be all the same, and the same as or opposite to those on the other rail, or they may vary from sleeper to sleeper.
