Abstract

256,434. Williams, D. D., and Williams, Ltd., H. Oct. 17, 1925. Rails, metallic builtup. - Permanent way and conductor rails have a tread b of heattreated alloy steel dovetailed on to the base and secured by contraction, the parts being machined or rolled so as to give a standard section to the complete rail. The projection a, Fig. 1, may be on the base and the recess c in the tread or the recess d, Fig. 3, in the base and the projection e on the tread. With conductor rails, the base may be of soft steel with good conductivity. Nickel chrome steel may be used for the tread.
