Abstract

180,160. Chapman, E. E. April 13, 1921. Guarding against unauthorized use.-The guard is in the form of a shackle 24, capable of being located on the wheel rim, of the kind adapted to dig into the ground and leave a distinctive trail or make an unmistakable sound if the vehicle is moved with the shackle in place. The improvement consists in the addition of means to embrace and be locked in a spoke of the wheel so that the shackle can not be turned on the tyre to put the projection or bumping member out of action. The spoke-engaging member is in the form of a clip 30, or chain, with the necessary freedom to avoid injury to the spoke.
