Cells; electrodes; separators; supports for electrodes.-The electrodes a of a storage battery are held in position within separate compartments in the container c by means of distance-pieces e as shown in plan. The compartments are formed by radial partitions d made of porous or perforated material such as treated wood, perforated celluloid, ebonite, &c. The partitions may be made in one piece or in two pieces. slotted for engagement with one another. The distance-pieces e are constituted by vertical ribs. on the partitions d and may be integral therewith and of the same material. The electrodes consist of lead cores b surrounded by active material a. The electrolyte may be in the form of a jelly or it may be absorbed in glass wool &c. According to the Provisional Speicfication the partitions d may be cut from solid wood, or they may be moulded or made integral with the container. Vertical ribs on the partitions may be used to enable two or more electrodes to be placed side by side. Horizontal ribs may also be provided' on the partitions and any of the ribs may be undercut or of claw-like construction to give greater security to the electrodes.
