Abstract

Stuffing - box joints; couplings, disconnectible. -Relates to pump-connectors of the kind comprising a rubber sleeve which is adapted to fit freely over the nozzle of a tyre valve, and can then be tightened thereon by longitudinal pressure on the sleeve exerted by a screw or the like. According to the invention, the connector comprises an open-ended tubular body a in which the rubber sleeve b is fitted at one end, a readily rotatable plug c screwing into the other end of the body a, and a fitting d between the sleeve and the screw, the part d having an L-shaped air passage therein and a stem d<1> passing through a slot a<3> in the body a. The stem d<1> is adapted for attachment to the flexible tube of an air-pump. In use, the sleeve b is placed over the nozzle of a tyre valve, and is compressed on it by screwing up the plug c. A pin c<2> projecting from the plug c can be used for lifting the stem of the valve before the pumpconnector is used.
