Abstract
174,405. Stork, H. N. Dec. 22,1920. Road-traffic signals on vehicles.-In direction indicators for road vehicles of the kind in which spring-controlled semaphores located on either side of the vehicle are actuated by a single operating-lever, the transmission mechanism, comprises a half-bevel wheel 1, Fig. 3, adapted to gear, in accordance with the direction of rotation of the handle c, with one of the bevel wheels 2, 3 which operates the selected semaphore b through the shaft g and the bevel gear f, e, Fig. 6. Each semaphore is provided with an electric light m which is automatically illuminated when the semaphore is dropped. Arrangements may be made whereby the semaphore shows a white light to the front when in the upright position and coloured lights forward and to the rear when dropped.
