Abstract
171,289. Haworth, J. L. Oct. 15, 1920. Moving-chamber apparatus.-Relates to apparatus of the type in which a tapered hollow measuring plug is rotatably mounted in a holder provided with inlet and outlet passages and a floatcontrolled air-valve, and consists in a construction whereby the hollow plug is pressed into a tapered holder by spring-pressure and is formed with apertures in the bottom adapted to be moved into and out of registration with apertures in a non-rotatable plate pressed against the bottom by a spring. A conical chamber A is adapted to oscillate in a conical casing B which forms the top of a funnel G having a delivery spout g which enters a bottle or the like, a groove in the spout allowing air to escape. The chamber A is provided with a port in the side adapted to register with air-inlet port E and with discharge ports in the bottom adapted to register with similar ports in a plate f which is non-rotatable and is pressed against the bottom of the chamber A by a spring f<1>. The top a of the chamber is pressed downward by springs D between the top and a flange b on the casing. A tubular guide c extends into the chamber and encloses a valve C<1> the shank of which has a pin C<2> which extends through slots in the guide and rests on a float C<1>. The end of the valve spindle registers with a mark C<6> when the chamber is full. The chamber is rocked by a handle a<2> moving between stops.
