Abstract

169,889. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Aug. 25, 1920. Thermionic relays. - In thermionic amplifiers in which the electron stream is controlled by a magnetic field the initial constant field is provided by the electron current. As shown in Fig. 3 windings 6, 7 for the constant field are provided, with a condenser 10 to by-pass the variable current. The coil 14 provided the variable input field for the first tube. The input coil 16 of the second tube carries the total electron current of the first. A tuning condenser 21 may be provided. In a modified form the input of the second tube is coupled by a transformer to the output circuit of the first, and carries only current due to the variable component of the electron current of the latter.
