169,595. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Stein et Cie, C. M.). Aug. 17, 1920. Glass furnaces. - A crucible glass-melting furnace of the type operated by the Siemens process having recuperators and heated by gas consists of two opposed vaults or combustion chambers 5 connected by a passage in the centre of which the burner 1 is situated. The burner is supplied with gas by a flue 2 and with hot air from recuperators 15 by flues 3. Crucibles are placed in front of outlet ports 6 in the sides of the vaults, each port communicating with a separate recuperator. An outlet 8 is provided for the escape of molten glass if a crucible should be broken.
