Abstract

168,564. Ferguson, W. March 12, 1921. Reversing gearing.-Interengaging planet gears j, j<1>, upon spindles i are carried in a member C having two clutch cones integral with connecting- webs c. The member C forms a bearing for aligned driving and driven shafts A, B. In forward driving, the member C engages a clutch member D secured to the shaft A, the gearing turning solid. In reversed driving, the member C engages a fixed cone E upon a casing F. Operation is effected by an eccentric m upon a spindle k actuated by a hand lever l. To lock the lever l, the handle part l<2> is adapted to be screwed against a fixed quadrant r, which passes through a slot in the socket or nut part l<1> of the lever. The invention is applicable to motor launches, yachts, &c.
