Abstract

168,254. Sedcole, J., and Laycock, Ltd., W. S. Sept. 13, 1920. Multiple-way valves.-A parallel slide stop valve for use in steam-heating arrangements of railway carriages comprises, in combination, a slide valve 2, 2 engaged by a bolt 3 hinged to an arm projecting from and actuated by a spindle 5 formed as a rotary conical plug vent valve. When the main valve 2 is closed, the vent valve 5 places the exit side 9 of the main valve into communication with the atmosphere through ports 12, 14. The vent valve can be removed by removing the screwed plug 21. In a modification the vent plug is tapered in the opposite direction and is removable through the stuffing-box end 6.
