Abstract

168,235. Sutton, J. J. Aug. 6, 1920. Bags. - Relates to means for supporting a purse or the like inside a hand-bag &c., and for indicating, by preventing the closure of the bag, when the purse is absent. The purse has a strap fixed to the back adapted to take over a hooked tongue b outstanding from a metal plate c attached to the interior of the hand-bag &c. A spring- controlled loop g pivotally mounted on the plate has to be forced downwardly to place the purse in position within the bag, and then exerts a pressure against the lower edge of the purse tending to keep the upper edge pressed against the tongue. When the purse is removed, the loop g flies upwards and by preventing the closing of the hand-bag &c. indicates that the purse is absent. The device may be applied to the pockets of garments by attaching the supporting-plate to the inside of the pocket.
